As we all do this time of year, it is time to reflect a little on what 2019 brought us as we head into 2020 and think about our goals for the upcoming year.
It’s human nature to sit around and reflect on the past and think about the future. So many of us set goals at the beginning of the year and make plans on how to accomplish those goals, but the reality is we don’t always accomplish what we set out to do….and that’s okay. Life gets in the way sometimes and gives us challenges we weren’t expecting. That’s when we really find out who we are. Life would be pretty boring (and not based in reality) if we could set goals and go about our merry way through the year accomplishing everything we wanted with no issues. Sometimes we don’t set the right goals, enough goals, or goals that inspire us to strive hard enough to achieve them. So, when I look back on 2019, I look back on how we navigated challenges; both expected and unexpected. After all, that’s where we earn our money and earn our keep. If life were easy, we would all be living on a beach sipping Mai Tai’s, and if business were easy, everyone would be doing it.
With that said, 2019 has been a great year at Bottom Line Marketing. We continued to grow, we faced new challenges and showed our toughness to get through those challenges. Managing a growing business can be tough and in 2019 not everything went as planned. We didn’t hit all of our goals, but we did adapt and push through to succeed and create new goals that we didn’t expect at the beginning of the year.
We added a lot of new clients and contributed to the success of so many of them. We added people and capabilities, with new digital advertising products and services and a demonstrated success rate utilizing these products. This was our biggest year for digital advertising as we continue to integrate this into diversified and successful advertising plans. Social media advertising continued to improve, and not only did we get better, but we helped our customers better understand this strategy so that it was more important to their plans in 2019 and also more successful.
Traditional media continued to reach people the “old school” way running many successful campaigns for so many of our customers. Creatively, we expanded and improved on our messaging to help our advertising dollars achieve their desired results. Our monthly reporting helped show that we are achieving desired results, and more importantly our customers let us know that what we are doing is contributing to their overall success.
In 2019 we also formed new partnerships in order to better assist our clients in utilizing co-op advertising dollars, and by delivering messages that benefit both the brand and the individual store. And not to be left out, our backend teams all kicked butt this year! Our admin staff made sure all the dollars and cents added up, that we ran smoothly, and kept projects moving in a timely fashion. We have always run lean, and this year was no different; well…except that we asked our team if they could be more efficient so that Bottom Line could continue providing a great service at a great price to our customers.
Their response was a resounding “Yes we can!” and they did.
Congratulations Bottom Line. You kept your eye on the prize in 2019 and despite the ups and downs and challenges faced along the way, you helped make 2019 successful and memorable for us and more importantly, for our customers. And to top it off, we are in a great position for 2020 to continue to build on that success.
Thank you to everyone at Bottom Line that made this happen and thank you to all of our customers and partners that allow us to work with you and be a part of your success as well. At the end of the day, we all need a reason to do what we do and working with all of you keeps us coming back day after day.
