Wow, how much the last few months have been a whirlwind! It’s pushed us out of our comfort zones and has made us adjust our lives and our businesses. We have had to look for new strategies to adapt to the new normal. Change is scary, but change is also good! It opens the door to new opportunities and pushes us to think out of the box; what else could we be doing? How do we keep up with the world?
In these last few months, your website has now turned into your virtual store front, 24/7. More and more consumers are seeking ways to get their shopping fix without having to leave the comfort of their homes. This is forcing small business to update their website and become more accessible online. Updating your website to become e-commerce is crucial in this current state and opens so many advertising opportunities.
Have you ever caught yourself scrolling through your Instagram, clicking on an ad with products you’re interested in, and then adding items to your cart? Then, you get distracted by your 1-year-old waking up, or your wallet being too far away? Before you know it, an hour has passed, and you have forgotten that you were even shopping. The next morning you check your email, and you see that you have a message from that very same store reminding you that you have five items in your shopping cart, and to come back! This is called abandoned cart retargeting. The only way that you can utilize this campaign, is if your website is set up for e-commerce. I am guilty, I have gone back and purchased at least five of my shopping cart items during the last few months. If you want to keep up with the changing times, abandoned cart retargeting is a MUST.
Abandoned Cart Emails are not the only way to remind the consumer of their abandoned shopping cart, or products they were interested in. I’m sure that everyone has been on a website looking at a specific product or service, only to later receive an ad on weather.com with the exact same product or service they were researching the day before. This is called dynamic remarketing. Dynamic remarketing allows you to track consumer behavior on your website and deliver unique ads based off their actual interests on your site.
With all this increased traffic to your website now, you want to be able to track the success of your advertising efforts. This goes beyond tracking impressions, clicks, and click-through-rate. Advanced conversion tracking is one of the newest tactics to show ROI. This is becoming more important with websites being updated for shopping online. I would like to go more in depth on this, but that will have to be covered in another blog! Check back in the next coming weeks for advanced conversion tracking!
These last few months have been worrisome for everyone, but it has opened the opportunity for digital advertising and businesses to adapt to the changing times.
